Today is the beginning of Chusok which is the Korean Thanksgiving, so I have four whole days off!!! Let me explain why that is. Ever since I left the good ole US of A on August 14th I have been a missionary, which so far has been the most wonderful experience. But it is also a lot of work. I traveled for about 33 hours to my destination of Bangkok, Thailand at 2 am their time. And I had to be at orientation for 8 am. Forget about jet lag or getting some good rest. It was all about training, I learned some really interesting things about the Asian culture, how Christianity is viewed so and so forth. I am not complaining at all about my trip it was amazing. I fell in love with the country so I did not want to waste any of my time sleeping and miss the sights, sounds, and smells. After having a great time in Bangkok it was time to head to Seoul, S. Korea for the "real" orientation and training process. My days consisted of waking up at 6 something to go to "mandatory" breakfast at 7 am. Then training began from about 8-5 everyday except for Sabbath we had training. This went on for about 9 days. My sleeping accommodations were quite amusing, it was like summer camp. There were 4 women and two bunk beds in a small room, with all of our possessions from the US piled on top of us. In the apt we had to share one bathroom, so altogether there were 7 women sharing one tiny bathroom. It was not all that bad, I made some great friendships and I had a great time.
When I got my assignment I was quite excited because, I was told that my institute was one of the best spiritually in all of SDA schools in S. Korea. I located in the heart of Seoul, just minutes away from all of the important places. My schedule is very busy a week kinda goes like this

I know that this may not seem like a busy schedule but, we are responsible for all the programs, so in our(my) "free time" I am getting things prepared doing the Lords work or trying my best to. This holiday is going to be a much needed break because I will finally get to hang out with some of the new friends that I have made and I'll get to see some of the huge city

Hi Deirdre, this is Becky. Sounds like you are really settling into the Korean life and getting into a routine. Your schedule sounds busy but good. Let me know how you like teaching the children's program!! I miss you so much and was so happy to talk to you on the phone. God is really using you and will lead your life if you let Him.
Email me about how to call you in S Korea so we can talk more.

Love you!
